Prof. Sebastian Straube, Canada

Sebastian Straube holds degrees in Medicine and Physiology from the University of Oxford where he also did his DPhil (PhD). After clinical work and research at the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals, Dr. Straube joined the Institute of Occupational, Social and Environmental Medicine at the University of Göttingen, Germany. Here he completed his Habilitation (German post-doctoral qualification) and his postgraduate medical training in the specialties of Occupational Medicine and Social Medicine. Dr. Straube was an Extraordinary Professor on the faculty of the University of Göttingen until he took up his current post as Associate Professor in the Division of Preventive Medicine within the University of Alberta's Department of Medicine in September 2014. In July 2016 he was appointed Division Director for Preventive Medicine. Dr. Straube’s primary research interest is in evidence-based medicine (systematic reviews and meta-analyses). He has over 100 peer-reviewed journal publications. Dr. Straube serves on the editorial boards of several journals including Pain and BioMed Research International as well as serving in an editorial role for the Cochrane Collaboration (Pain, Palliative and Supportive Care Review Group and Cochrane Work Review Group).
